About Country Music:
Country music (or country and western) is a blend of popular musical forms originally found in the Southern United States and the Appalachian Mountains. It has roots in traditional folk music, Celtic music, gospel music, and old-time music and evolved rapidly in the 1920s.
The term country music began to be used in the 1940's when the earlier term hillbilly music was deemed to be degrading, and the term was widely embraced in the 1970's, while country and Western has declined in use since that time, except in the United Kingdom and Ireland, where it is still commonly used.

Nashville, TN - March 10 - Dallas-based independent label, Carved Records, has announced a distribution agreement for No Justice through RED Distribution and MRI Associated Labels, Inc.
The agreement is a co-venture between Carved Records and MRI, with RED handling all distribution duties for Carved product.
"Securing distribution for Carved Records through our deal with RED and MRI is a key component to the success of this label," says Carved Records CEO Tim Porter. "Both companies have a proven track record when it comes to working with independent artists, and we're thrilled to be working with them to distribute No Justice and Texas Hippie Coalition."
RED Distribution is an independent record distributor and artist development company owned by Sony Music Entertainment. RED currently handles distribution duties for more than 50 independent and major record labels, including MRI.

Nashville, TN - Febr. 22 - Newly formed Moxy Records, a division of Moxy Music Group, has begun full-time label operations based out of its new offices in Nashville, TN. Video link.
The label has recently signed Country artist Chelsea Field as its first act. She is currently in the studio with award-winning producer Trey Bruce recording the final tracks for her debut album.

Mercury Records artist, Easton Corbin, has a single out titled "A Little More Country Than That" and it is being featured as the iTunes Single of the Week. You can download the single for free on iTunes this week only. CD will be in stores March 2.
Universal City, CA - Laura Bell Bundy is an up and coming country artist that got her start on the soap opera Guiding Light and went on to Broadway playing Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, Glinda in Wicked, and Amber Von Tussel in Hairspray. She is now back to her original love, country music. Here debut album, Achin' and Shakin', will be released in early 2010.
