“Some people are born to it” is how the quote begins, and you really don’t know how true this is until you meet Shayna Rose. Shayna started performing and singing professionally when only eight years old, appearing in countless regional musicals, and starring in most of them. Roles included, Mary in “The Secret Garden”, Little Red Riding Hood in “Into the Woods”, Dorothy in “The Wizard of Oz”, Heidi in “Heidi”, and Young Violet in “Violet”. Shayna also found success in several dramas, including her starring role as Mary Tilford in “The Children’s Hour”, which earned her a nomination for best supporting actress by the Denver Drama Critics Circle. On the slightly less dramatic side of the business, Shayna has also appeared in numerous national TV commercial campaigns, in spots as varied as Ford to McDonalds. Life is full of choices, and Shayna made an important one in 2002, moving to Los Angeles in 2002 after turning down a scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. But arriving in such a big city at such a young age she quickly realized the fierce competition and challenge of the entertainment industry was a far cry from the comfort she had known in the Mile High city. It’s been said one should only become an actor when it’s the only thing you can imagine yourself doing…and Shayna learned this while juggling acting, singing, songwriting, auditions, and two jobs. Shayna faced the usual frustrations: finding an agent, looking for managers, being unable to submit “unsolicited” music materials, learning who’s who and who’s not, hearing no and no and no…before finally starting to hear yes, yes, and yes….. Success didn’t come quickly, but as her reputation for consistency and talent grew, the roles started coming. Shayna started by landing co-starring roles in network shows such as “Gilmore Girls”, “Medium” and “Commander In Chief.” In 2007 Shayna’s public profile continues to grow with roles on such series as “Ugly Betty,” “Mad Men” and as the original Stephanie Johnson on NBC’s “Days of Our Lives.” Shayna’s come a long way and it’s just the beginning for this red headed beauty.
