Bio:
August Marie Ponte is a small town girl, lookin' to make it to the big time. And when she says she is a small town girl; she means it! 

August comes from a town of 270 people. She has sung for larger than her hometown including 30,000 people at a pep rally for Kansas State University football in the past few weeks.

Music has been a huge part of her life from a very young age to present. Proof of this is is when she 6 years old, her parents were going to take her to Disneyland, but being a very opinionated person even at 6. She told her parents that she wanted to go to Memphis and Nashville and that was how it was going to be!

They had planned stopping for the night, but she wouldn’t let them. She made them drive straight through to Memphis to see Graceland.

The next day they went to Nashville where she performed at Tootsies.

Then she went to the one place she had my heart set on seeing, the Grand Ole Opry; but the doors were locked!

So she sorrowfully sat on the steps until a stage hand walked up and asked her what was wrong. He then let her inside upon which she asked if she could get up on the stage, where she sang "Crazy" and "Teddy Bear" for all the workers. 



August has participated in talent shows including the upcoming Colgate Country Showdown national contest.

In Paxico, Kansas, she has performed at the annual Polka Fest and Blues Festival and she sang prior to the Symphony on the Prairie. She sings at Puffy’s Steak and Ice House in Maple Hill, Kansas, almost every other weekend. August also sings at The 20’s and The 20’s West in Topeka. 

August often sings for non-profit organizations such as Easter Seal Capper Foundation, Methodist Women, and church events. August has been in various competitions around the area and has performed with a band at the Burlington Opry, in Burlington, Kansas.



August was the 2007 Riley County Idol, in which she competed against contestants both younger and older than she was.

At the Salina Colgate Country Showdown, she was selected as the first runner-up in 2007. I also competed in the Colgate Country Showdown in the 2006 and 2007 at Wamego, Kansas. 



August finally got the idea that she should perform her own original song to the Colgate Country Showdown in Hutchinson and she won! 

She has recorded two demo cds, the 1st at Exceptions Studio and the 2nd at High Point Recording Studio. She recorded a 3rd cd, which is a single that includes a song she wrote and co-wrote with Joseph Mills of High Point Recording Studio.
