Singer/songwriter Cat Southern is Australia's newest star, born to entertain, and taking Australia by storm. Originally from South Australia, Cat is now based on the Central Coast of NSW.

Cat stands out in a crowd, and the industry has already spotted the enormous talent and potential this young woman has to offer. This year her star has shone brightly with Cat being crowned the 2006 Toyota Starmaker, Australia's most prestigious talent search, in the Country Music capital, Tamworth.

Her adventures started in 2005 touring throughout rural and remote
communities of Australia with the expansive Brian Young Tour – following the 
footsteps of Beccy Cole & Troy Cassar-Daley.

The spotlight then focused on the release of her debut 5 track EP So Far. The title track Big Girl Now was the perfect introduction to Cat's world – contemporary and strong – making Top 20 on the Top 100 Country Hits and #25 on the CMC video chart. Another track That's the Kinda Man I'm Looking For also received strong chart support, sitting in the Top 50 on the Top 100 country Hits Chart.

Cat has released the official Toyota Starmaker 2006 EP titled Last First Kiss, the response is proving once again why she is Australia's best new talent. This latest Ep shows the growth in Cat as an artist, with original songs Last First Kiss and Skin Deep, penned by herself and talented writers Jay Collie and Jasper Somerville Collie. Last First Kiss was released to radio in June and has had fantastic coverage Australia wide. The Ep also features Cat's version of the classic Slim Dusty song Memories and Dreams.  Also plucking Big Girl Now and That's the kinda Man I'm Looking For from the So Far Ep, rounds of the Toyota Starmaker release for 2006 now available in all music stores. Cat has also released her new film clip for the single Last First Kiss on Foxtel's Country Music Channel (CMC). The single is getting massive airplay on Country and commercial radio stations Australia wide, and has just entered the top 10 on the Top 30 Country Tracks Charts currently sitting at number 7 and its still rising, this is proof that Cat has a huge future within Australian Country music and internationally. Cat has also hit the Air Charts with the EP Last First Kiss Debuting at number 18.

The first half of 2006 has been one amazing ride for Cat. Not only taking out the 2006 Toyota Starmaker, but she has also been a Lead performer and show entertainer at the Warner Village Theme Parks' $23 million show extravaganza – Australian Outback Spectacular – a unique and exciting show capturing the grandeur of the Australian Outback, presented by R.M.Williams on the Gold Coast QLD. Cat also featured in much of the public relations for the show including a promotional trip to New Zealand.

Media are eager to get a taste of this young star, with appearances on Southern Cross Ten's State Focus, Channel 7, Prime and NBN News, ABC Radio's Saturday Night Country, and featured in country music magazines Capital News and Country Update, Stock Journal, Advertiser, plus major metropolitan & regional radio stations and newspapers.

Cat's future in Country Music is looking very promising, with her contemporary, new and individual style. She is a vibrant performer and is recognised for her sizzling and high energy shows and for her ability to capture her audiences. Cat has a huge fan following, and has performed at many major events including the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, Gympie Muster (Main Stage), Sydney Royal Easter Show (main Arena), Tamworth Country Music Festival, Mud Bulls and Music, Balaklava Cup, Mildura Country Music Festival, Katherine Country Music Muster, and the Caboolture Urban Blaze Concert.
