Bio:
Jaime Fox is conquering life one challenge at a time... and taking her audience along for the ride!

Born and raised in Maryland, Jaime Fox began to noticably excel at vocal performance in her elementary school years. Her parents, eager to explore their young daugther's newfound talent, enrolled Fox in vocal lessons under the tutorage of Carol DeSantis. DeSantis introduced Fox to a world of music that blazed through every style - from classical to Broadway to comtemporary pop and country. Armed with a well-rounded musical background and a four-year scholarship as a Maryland Distinguished Scholar for Talent in the Arts, Fox was accepted into the vocal performance department at the University of Maryland, College Park. After her first year, it was apparent that Fox wanted to study more than the classical music program her college offered, so she created her own major in "Entertainment Business and Performance." She earned her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Maryland in this field in June 1999. During her college years, Fox was actively involved in the local music community. She fronted two bands, "Central Avenue Band" and "The Jaime Fox Band", and was a member of the female a capella group, "Treblemakers." Additionally, she participated in community theatre and was a motivational speaker for the student-athlete program, TEAM Maryland. Ever searching for a place to perform, Fox decided to enter into local pageants. She held four consectutive local titles and placed in the top five at the Miss Maryland Pageant twice, winning Overall Talent both times. Finally, after her fourth attempt, Fox was crowned Miss Maryland 1997 and was a participant in the nationally televised Miss America Pageant on ABC.

Her vast experience in front of live audiences is evident by her commanding stage presence. This, combined with her amazing energy and ability to convey emotion, captures the attention of her audience and leaves them reeling for more. "Being in front of a crowd is my favorite place to be. I love to watch people's faces as they are touched by words and music. It is the most rewarding part of being a performer," says Fox.

In 1999, Jaime made the seven hundred mile journey from her hometown of Frederick, Maryland to Nashville, Tennessee with everything she could fit in her car and her dog, Tiara. "Nashville seemed like the perfect fit for me," Jaime explains. "I had been to New York City many times before, and felt completely lost. One visit to Nashville and I was leasing an apartment." Three weeks later, the hopeful singer made the move in pursuit of a vocal performance career on a national level.

Fox had always been drawn to the Nashville sound because of the down-home instrumentation and songs that tell stories about real life experience. Although Fox admittedly blurs the line between pop rock and country, she credits Nashville for the majority of her inspiration. When Fox first came to Nashville, she spent several years finding her place in the maddening crowd. "I found out quickly what it meant to be a 'playground legend'", the singer explains. "You may be the cream of the crop at home, but you're a dime a dozen here. This is the real deal where most everyone could be a star if given the chance." Refusing to be discouraged, Fox performed wherever she could, singing in an all-girl group called "kHarma" and offering her services as a demo singer. She also travelled to Atlanta and performed with the "South River Band" and "Music in Motion."

"For the first few years, my life was about trying to stay afloat financially, and trying to fit in. I won't lie -- I toyed with the idea of giving up, but my passion to perform was unwaivering." Fox credits the life experience that she gained in the last six years for giving her most of her song-writing material. "I definitely have a lot to say," Fox explains. "Writing is my outlet."

In 2005, Fox recommitted to her dream, and decided to record her first album on her own. She was introduced to an up and coming producer named Eddie Gore of Insomnia Studios. Gore, who engineers for the renowned musical genius, Steve Cropper, was eager to help Fox turn her vision into musical magic. Together, Gore and Fox created a unique style that the artist boasts is "all her own." She says,"Eddie didn't look at me like I was crazy when I said I wanted a sound with the rock edge of Melissa Etheridge and the range and emotion of Martina McBride."

Fox co-wrote four songs on her album slated for a spring release, including the title track, "Crossing Over." In preparation for the album, she had the awesome opportunity to write with some of Nashville's rising stars like song-writer, Bruce Wallace, and with hidden talents like the amazingly gifted singer-songwriter, Mary Ann Redmond, of Washington, DC. She also found bold material from some of Nashville's top writers, including Keith Follese, Steve Diamond, Bekka Bramlett, Liz Rose, Virginia Banks and others. "It's hard to believe that jewels like 'I Don't Believe in Ghosts' (Follese/Diamond) were just sitting in the catalogs at these publishing companies." Fox was able to incorporate her own style into these songs while also giving them a powerful interpretation. "It is such a wonderful feeling to be able to breathe life into someone's else idea. I always try to take the song somewhere it hasn't been yet by putting my stamp on it," she says.

Still young and driven, this singer is charging onto the music scene with the determination and professionalism of a seasoned veteran. Jaime Fox is a force to be reckoned with, and she invites you along for the ride!
