Bio:
The Music Business will always have a place for its records and new artists in Nashville but its pulse is in the jam-packed arenas, concert halls, CD players and countless radio stations across America and Canada. This comes as no surprise to Jenny who has spent the past few years preparing for her debut. She has followed the usual route of playing writer’s nights, publishing and recording her songs and has been building quite a fan base. Her myspace page is new and friend count is growing by leaps and bounds. Confident interest is sparking for her versatile and radio friendly sound.
Jenny Grew up on the island of Grand Manan in New Brunswick Canada, and then spent 10 years in Ottawa, Ontario before moving to Nashville in January of 1999. She left her family in Canada and ventured off with little money but richer than ever in spirit. She says it’s the scariest, craziest, most wonderful thing she ever did. Moving to Nashville really put her career into perspective and now that she knows what she’s up against she is that much more determined to fulfill her dreams.
This Canadian singer was born into a family of the musically inclined. She has been singing since she was old enough to walk and knew from the time she was six that she wanted to be a singer. Since then she took advantage of every opportunity in her small town to perform. She remained active in choirs, operettas, variety shows, festivals, contests & pageants often winning first place.
Her late father, Paul, lobster fisherman by trade but could give Pavarotti a run for his money with his power & tone which Jenny proudly says he passed onto her, “she hopes”, and her mother, Sheila, had the softer harmonic voice. Her dad played banjo and guitar with his no name bluegrass buddies in their living room weekly and they often had family “sing songs”. Her roots are mainly country, as her parents played a lot of Marty Robbins, Kenny & Dolly, Johnny Cash and a variety of bluegrass as well as many classic Baptist hymns. Her three older sisters influenced her with the sounds of Queen, Heart & ABBA. During her teens out on the east coast in High school she listened to a lot of Motley Crew & Poison. So she has very eclectic influences.
While attending Algonquin College Nursing Program, she moonlighted at Campus Music Functions, TV Telethons and became a regular singer at Ottawa’s finest piano bars. She recorded some of her own works at a small Ottawa studio and used it as her first demo. During her years prior to moving to Nashville she also made a living doing everything from bartending, welding, grooming horses, childcare and secretarial work but she was always led back to her love for the music business & singing. She presently works Part time as a Senior Director & National Trainer for BeautiControl Cosmetics and Mobile Spa Service.
Everyone who meets Jenny finds her to be a delight and her confident, charismatic presence, and down to earth approach gives her an edge when dealing with her peers and associates. Jenny is an open-minded, strong hearted professional who knows the pursuit of a singing career is Gods will for her life and takes joy in basking in the challenges & blessings that come from it. She is a positive bleep on many radar screens and will inevitably achieve whatever she sets her heart on.
