Sue's great vocal style combined with an amazing stage presence reminds you of some of the best female singers and stars from the 1950s. Sue has been performing on many stages all over Europe and America. She worked with great legends and artists like Paul Burlinson, D.J. Fontana, Rocky Burnette, Stan Perkins, The Comets, Joe Houston, Red West, to nowadays rockers like Number Nine, the Barnshakers, the Hacienda Brothers and Darrel Higham. From a young age on Sue has been playing in different bands and with various acts and for the last decade has been successful with her band Sue and the Flaming Stars. She released a solo album in 2002 and with her Flaming Stars she recorded an album with many of her own songs which came out in 2004. Sue attributed to the Jack Million Big Band album ‘Night and Day’ that ended in the top ten hit list in South Africa. She starred as a singer and dancer in various theater shows. In 2004 and 2005 Sue has been singing at the Elvis-gospel services throughout the Netherlands. Sue Moreno has much coverage on (inter-)national TV and radio and appeared on many international festivals like the Shake Rattle and Roll Weekender, the Jackson Rockabilly Fest, Viva Las Vegas, the Midsummer Jamboree and the Screamin’ Festival.
Sue has been performing on many stages all over Europe and America. With successful shows in countries like England, Italy, Denmark, Spain, Finland, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and various tours and performances in the United States, her international status can be concluded.
She worked with great names and artists varying from Paul Burlinson, D.J. Fontana, Rocky Burnette, Stan Perkins, The Comets, Red West, to nowadays rockers like Number Nine, the Barnshakers, the Rhythm Aces, the Stringdusters, the Hacienda Brothers, Darrel Higham, the DiMaggio Brothers and many others.
Sue got in touch with various musical styles from an early age on, thanks to a musical upbringing. Her preference went out to Elvis Presley and other related Rock 'n' Roll, Country, and Rockabilly singers and crooners such as Eddie Cochran, The Rock 'n Roll Trio, Hank Williams, Patsy Cline and Dean Martin.
When she was 15, she formed her first band through school of music, appropriately called 'Memphis'. Sue started performing in her band but could also be found on stages at many school (related) parties.
When she finished high school she left for the USA where she appeared at various clubs on the East Coast.
Returning to home country the Netherlands, she started singing harmony vocals in a band covering the 70s period of Elvis Presley. Out of this band arose 'The Original El'Bootlegs', that went on as Susan When She Tried after some member changes. The music they played was the music closest to her heart: a style combining Rock 'n' Roll, Country, Rockabilly, and Blues.
Sue obtained her Master Degrees in film and TV studies which included acting, directing and writing. In early 1997, the band Sue and the Flaming Stars was put together. Besides authentic rockabilly, there's influences of rock 'n' roll, Latin, rhythm and blues and country.
Sue also pursued in writing her own material. She appeared as a guest musician in several bands like The Rocking Explosions, The Blue Moon Boys and The Alley Cats, and performed at various (inter-)national festivals.
Meanwhile, Sue could and can be seen and heard in various national and international TV programs, radio broadcasts and media. Being a lifelong Elvis fan, the Festival at the 'Melkweg' in 1999 was very special to her as shared the stage with Elvis' drummer DJ Fontana and his guitarist Scotty Moore.
Sue played with Marco DiMaggio at the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender in Vegas April, 2001.
In the summer of that year she was asked to perform at the International Rockabilly Fest in Jackson, Tennessee, USA. She appeared with the legendary Paul Burlison, DJ Fontana, Stan Perkins, The Comets and Ace Cannon.
She also gigged in Memphis that summer with The Dempseys and Paul Burlison.
In 2002, Sue played with 'Tear It Up', including guitarist Kees van Bemmel and Marcel 'mighty' Verbaas - and she played with Rocky Burnette and Paul Burlison during their last European Tour together.
Sue also performed with well known Dutch artists like the Eric Corton Trio and the Chevy Cats. Late December 2002, Sue's first solo CD for Rarity Records called 'All I Can Do Is Dream You' had been released. The songs are in the Rockabilly / Swing / /Jazz genre and the 60s film song-style. It also contains two songs originally written for Elvis but ones he never recorded.
Sue appeared on many Elvis-related shows like The Elvis Tribute Night and the Elvis Memorial Fest after which she got the honorable title 'The Female Elvis'.
From February, thru May, 2003, Sue starred as the leading lady in the Grand Theater Tour 'The Country Music Hall of Fame', which could be seen throughout the Netherlands and Belgium.
The show, with international band members, brought a variation of country music straight from the heart.
In the summer of 2003, Sue started working with Marco DiMaggio, writing, recording and performing. More international shows followed.
Late in 2003, Sue toured America's West Coast. Her back up band consisted of Buddy Holly phenomenon John Mueller, Ed Maxwell on bass and Sammy K on drums. They performed at hot rockabilly places like the Dollhut, the Rumble Bar and the Continental Room.
Sue joined the incredible 28-piece Jack Million Big Band, singer Friso and 'master' DJ and producer Eddy de Clercq. In June 2004 the album 'Night and Day' had been released on which Sue can be heard as a guest singer, adding lead-and backing vocals. The album went straight to the top 10 in South Africa and in the meantime it came out on EMI in 8 different countries.
May, 2004, the first Sue Moreno and the Flaming Stars album, 'Drivin' on the Highway of Love' had been released. June and July 2004, found Sue touring Finland again where she played at festivals like the well-known Midsummer Jamboree.
She played with the finest Finnish musicians, Eino Rastas, The Rhythm Aces and The Barnshakers.
Sue toured her beloved States once more, covering California to Texas in the Fall of 2004, with various artists and friend-musicians.
2005 found her playing all over the globe again, from the UK to the US, Spain, Germany and France. The long awaited album Bye Bye Blues with Marco DiMaggio has been released on Jungle Records in Europe and Hepcat Records in the United States and has gotten great feedback.
Sue and her Flaming Stars will go into the studio in 2006 to record a new album with originals and songs in the Sue & Flaming Stars style.
Sue is working with producer Eddy de Clercq (Blue Note) to record bossa nova and 40s R&B and Latin songs.
Sue is also working on a short movie called 'Dreams' that will come out in 2006.
