Band Bio:
All springing from different bands, Sue and her Stars ~ the way they are known today ~ decided to share their talents at the beginning of 1997. On stand-up bass Willy Pieters, known for his incredible feel for jazz, big band, and crooner work besides rockabilly and blues. Dik Otten is one of the best guitar pickers around and his typical rockabilly licks, Latin grips and rockin' style are a true and unmistakable addition to the sound of Sue and the Flaming Stars. His broad musical interests are automatically followed by a broad playing style and great variation in the songs. The same goes for very talented and versatile 'SUNstyle' drummer Jan van Leeuwen who easily switches from a mambo-beat to an up-tempo hillbilly tune.

As you can tell, the music of Sue Moreno and the Flaming Stars offers a variable mixture of rock 'n' roll and rockabilly with influences from jazz, swing, blues and Latin rhythms as well as hillbilly. As can be heard on the first Sue and the Flaming Stars album 'Drivin' on the Highway of Love' as well, Hans vander Velde sometimes sits in to add some warm and typical lapsteel-sound. On live performances, the band sometimes is accompanied by saxophone or mouth harp. Besides known and unknown songs by artists like Elvis, Julie London and Duke Ellington (to just name a few different styles) the band write their own material. Willy Pieters and Sue Moreno make a good songwriter's duo and have been teaming up for most of the Stars' songs. Sue Moreno and the Flaming Stars can be seen on national and inter-national stages and on many Rock 'n Roll - and Elvis Presley-related festivals.
